Marchés de Noël à Berlin, Germany
I went to three different Christmas markets in Berlin and each one had something unique to offer. There are 3 short slide shows to show each Christmas Market.
Weihnachtszauber Gendarmenmarkt Christmas Market
The Gendarmenmarkt is a square in Berlin, and the site of the Konzerthaus and the French Cathedral and German Cathedrals. The centre of the Gendarmenmarkt is crowned by a statue of Germany's poet Friedrich Schiller. The square was created by Johann Arnold Nering at the end of the seventeenth century as the Linden-Markt and reconstructed by Georg Christian Unger in 1773.
During World War II, most of the buildings were badly damaged or destroyed. Today all the buildings are restored to their former state. Every year more than 600 000 people visit this Christmas market in Berlin-Mitte.

Christmas Market at Berlin Town Hall
Famous for its Ferris wheel in front of the Governing Mayor's seat, this Christmas market tempts visitors with Old Berlin style market alleys, a circular ice rink and culinary delights. A 50-metres giant Ferris wheel provides an excellent view of the festively illuminated Berlin city centre. Another popular highlight of this market is the 600 square metres ice rink where skaters makes circles around the impressive Neptune Fountain. Skating is free and skate rental is only 4€.

Christmas Market at Alexanderplatz
The Christmas Market at Alexanderplatz is one of the busiest in Berlin. Vendors sell traditional crafts and Christmas products such as pottery, tchotchkes and carved Christmas pyramids from more than a hundred booths while the sounds of the market-goers and the smells of Bratwurst, gingerbread and mulled wine waft through the square.
For entertainment there are daily show programmes, fairground rides for children and a Ferris wheel nearby. From the top of the wheel, visitors can enjoy the view over the illuminated Alexanderplatz with the hustle and bustle between the stands and market attractions. For the more active among the visitors, there is an ice rink.
